The Coalition's Green Home & Building Tour will be followed by a special reception at the renowned Ojai Foundation's new, green-built Council House. The Council House is as Earth-conscious as it is lovely. The forty-foot circular venue features a recycled steel frame and "green" wood flooring. The need for mechanical air conditioning, even in Ojai's triple-digit summers, has been eliminated by thoughtful design and partnership with nature along with a "living roof" of tiny succulent plants.

In the winter months, solar-heated water will circulate beneath the floor to keep the main room warm.

Meet us on the flagstone terrace under the oaks at 7 p.m. to sip Ojai's organic Casa Barranca wines and to taste local organic produce transformed into delectable light bites by chef Terri Mitchell.

The Ojai Valley's own flamenco guitarist, Russ Baggerly, will create just the right ambience for this magical evening. We may even hear a chorus of coyotes accompanying Russ. Enjoy gorgeous vistas in the light of day and then a starry night, far from the city lights. There will be plenty of time to mingle with old friends and new. Our program will include conversations with Tim Baird, Ojai Valley Green Coalition Board President, and Doug Adrianson, Ojai Foundation Board Chair. A special guest will present our tour site owners with plaques in appreciation of their leadership by example. Jane Carroll, the designer of the Ojai Foundation Council House, will share with us the process of the green design.
